An integrated management system only works when staff see where they fit in it. This talk keeps it to what matters for them, and the guidance gives the person leading it the background.

Integrated Management System (IMS) Training Talk
A training talk on the integrated management system (IMS) for all staff - what the IMS is, how it is set up and how it affects each person's role, from controlled changes to reporting problems and near misses. The download gives you a one-page attendance record with the talk description already filled in, plus the full guidance document to run the talk from.
Two Files in One Download
- TT-1-09 Integrated Management System (IMS) - the attendance record, with the topic and talk description ready to use and a signature line for each attendee
- GG-1-09 Integrated Management System (IMS) - the guidance document the talk is based on, to prepare from and to issue to staff afterwards
Talk Description
- What an IMS is and the standards it most commonly covers
- The purpose of the IMS and how it is set up
- How the IMS affects you - business processes, policies, and your role and responsibilities
- Controlled changes, and reporting problems, incidents and near misses
- The IMS1 manual, the IMS folder and the IMS registers
- Ethical behaviour, quality culture, objectives and suggestions for improvement
Running the Talk
Read through the guidance beforehand, talk the points through with the team, then have everyone sign the record. Keep the signed record as evidence that the briefing took place and who received it.
Why Suggestions for Improvement Are Included
Staff who use the processes every day are often the first to see where something could work better. The talk ends on objectives and suggestions for improvement so people know their ideas have a route into the system.
Adapting the Talk
Both files are fully editable, so add the standards your IMS covers, where the IMS folder is kept and how staff should put forward a suggestion. Update the talk description if you cover extra points.
Keeping the Training Record
File the signed record with your training records, or log the talk against each attendee in a training matrix, so you can show who has been briefed and when.
Who Is It For?
All staff, as part of induction and whenever the management system changes. It also works as a refresher before an external audit.
Delivering Talks Regularly
Short, regular talks keep the way the business works in front of people. Run this one alongside the other general training talks to build awareness one topic at a time.
