Management Review and Objectives Training Talk
A training talk on management review and objectives for managers and key staff - what management review covers, when it is done, and how objectives are set, planned and measured. The download gives you a one-page attendance record with the talk description already filled in, plus the full guidance document to run the talk from.
Two Files in One Download
- TT-1-11 Management Review and Objectives - the attendance record, with the topic and talk description ready to use and a signature line for each attendee
- GG-1-11 Management Review and Objectives - the guidance document the talk is based on, to prepare from and to issue to staff afterwards
Talk Description
- What management review is and why it is needed
- When management review is completed, and why it does not have to be a meeting
- What is reviewed - audits, issues and actions, customer feedback, suppliers and resources
- Legal compliance, and whether the management system is still suitable and effective
- Setting objectives that are relevant, measurable and communicated
- Planning objectives - actions, resources, responsibility, timescale and measuring results
Running the Talk
Read through the guidance beforehand, talk the points through with the team, then have everyone sign the record. Keep the signed record as evidence that the briefing took place and who received it.
Questions raised during the talk can be noted in the comments box on the record, so anything that needs following up is not lost.
Why Management Review Need Not Be a Meeting
Many of the inputs can be reviewed as they come up, at regular team meetings or in a short written record, rather than saved for one sitting. The talk explains this so managers see review as part of running the business rather than an extra event.
Adapting the Talk
Both files are fully editable, so add how and when your management review is recorded, your current objectives and who is responsible for each one. Update the talk description if you cover extra points.
Keeping the Training Record
File the signed record with your training records, or log the talk against each attendee in a training matrix, so you can show who has been briefed and when.
Who Is It For?
Directors, managers and anyone who owns an objective or provides input to management review. It suits induction into a management role and the run-up to each review.
Delivering Talks Regularly
Short, regular talks keep the way the business works in front of people. Run this one alongside the other general training talks to build awareness one topic at a time.
