ISO 37001:2025 Internal Audit Checklist Template
A full clause internal audit checklist for ISO 37001:2025, the anti-bribery management systems standard, with each clause number and a short summary of the clause listed. It is set out on the F-Q2 Audit Checklist format, with the scope, criteria, auditor and date recorded at the top and space against each clause to record the evidence viewed, responses and findings.
It is useful when preparing for an ISO 37001 certification audit, giving evidence that every clause has been audited, and for gap analysis against the standard.
Note: ISO clause checklists only include the clause numbers and short prompts for each clause (due to copyright reasons) and therefore a full version of the ISO standard is required to be used in conjunction with these checklists.
What the Checklist Covers
- Context of the organisation - issues, stakeholders, scope, the anti-bribery management system and the bribery risk assessment
- Leadership - the governing body and top management, anti-bribery culture, the anti-bribery policy, roles and the anti-bribery function
- Planning - risks and opportunities, anti-bribery objectives and planning of changes
- Support - resources, competence and the employment process, awareness, training for personnel and business associates, communication and documented information
- Operation - due diligence, financial and non-financial controls, anti-bribery controls for other organisations, anti-bribery commitments, gifts, hospitality and donations, inadequate controls, raising concerns, and investigating and dealing with bribery
- Performance evaluation and improvement - monitoring, internal audit, management review, review by the anti-bribery function, nonconformity and corrective action, and continual improvement
Using the Checklist
The checklist can be used when first setting up an ISO 37001 management system to show that every clause has been met, and then as the record of internal audits. Record the scope and criteria at the top, then work through each clause, noting the evidence viewed and any findings, and follow findings up through corrective action. Audits can be spread across the year, with the full clause checklist covering the whole standard over the audit programme.
Planning the Audit
Have the anti-bribery policy, the bribery risk assessment, due diligence records, the gifts and hospitality register and the record of the last management review to hand, along with the standard itself, and arrange time with the anti-bribery function.
