Most safety failures are not exotic. They are the same handful of subjects, done badly because nobody has looked at them in two years. One topic a month, read properly and acted on, is worth more than a shelf of policy nobody opens.
Every issue goes out by email as it is published. Join the mailing list and tick the preference for the updates you want. Already on the list? Use the preferences link at the foot of any update email to change what you receive.
The health and safety updates come with the alphaZ Subscription, alongside the full document library and the rest of the update service.
Health and Safety Updates
One Health and Safety Subject a Month, Covered Properly
Each month we take a single health and safety topic and write it up in full - what the duty actually is, what goes wrong with it in real workplaces, what good control looks like, and which documents deal with it. It is a PDF, it takes about ten minutes to read, and every issue we have published stays in the alphaZ subscriber library.
These are written by people who assess management systems for a living, so they are aimed at what actually gets picked up rather than at what sounds thorough.
What Each Issue Covers
- The duty - what is required of an employer on that subject, in plain terms
- What goes wrong - the failures that come up again and again, and why they happen
- Practical control - what a proportionate, workable arrangement looks like for a small or mid-sized business
- The paperwork that proves it - the risk assessments, forms, registers and procedures that cover the topic, and where to find them
What People Do With Them
- Run a toolbox talk - each issue is a ready-made subject with the content already assembled
- Brief a manager who owns the topic but has never been given a straight explanation of it
- Feed the management review - a year of issues is a year of prompts you can review against
- Evidence communication and consultation, which is a requirement in its own right and one of the easier ones to leave undocumented
- Sense-check a risk assessment before an auditor does it for you
How to Get the Files
Every issue is in the alphaZ subscriber library and the file names carry the date and the subject, so finding the one on manual handling or lone working takes a second. The link to the library is emailed to you when your subscription starts.
The whole back catalogue is there, not just the current issue, and anything you download is yours to keep.
Or Have It Sent to You
You do not have to remember to come back. Every health and safety update goes out by email as it is published. Join the mailing list and tick the preference for the updates you want, and it arrives on its own.
Downloading the file itself needs an alphaZ subscription. If you are not subscribed the email still tells you what has been published, so you always know what is here.
Where It Fits
These briefings are the practical, monthly end of the update service. The quarterly alphaZ-OUT handles legislation and standards changes, and the monthly Business Health and Compliance Updates cover the obligations that sit outside health and safety.
All three are included with the alphaZ Subscription.
These files are for alphaZ subscribers. Log in to the subscriber library to download them. Not a subscriber yet? See the alphaZ subscription.
The issues are in the Health and Safety Updates folder of the subscriber library.
