Management Review and Objectives Guidance
A general guidance document on management review and company objectives for top management and the people who contribute to the review. It explains why the review is needed, when it is completed, the topics it considers, and how objectives are set, documented and measured for each management system.
Topics Covered
- Why review is needed - top management reviewing the system at planned intervals for its suitability, adequacy, effectiveness and fit with the strategic direction
- When to complete it - once the management system is in place and operating, before the first certification audit, and then at least annually
- How the review is done - completing it over a period with contributions from the right people, using F-Q3 Management Review to cover the required inputs and outputs
- Topics for review - audit results, issues and trends, risks and opportunities, objectives, interested parties, resources, feedback, suppliers and legal compliance
- Objectives for each system - relevant, measurable objectives consistent with the quality, environmental, health and safety and information security policies
- Planning objectives - recording what will be done, the resources needed, who is responsible, when it will be completed and how success is measured
Who Is It For?
Top management, who are responsible for the review, and the managers and staff who contribute to it or are responsible for achieving objectives.
Supplied with the Training Talk
This guidance is supplied with the TT-1-11 Management Review and Objectives training talk. Buy the training talk to download the talk and this guidance together, or download both with an alphaZ Subscription.
Using the Guidance
Use it to plan and prepare the management review and to brief those who contribute to it or are responsible for objectives. Record who has received it, for example on the training matrix.
Evidence Beyond the Review Clause
The management review form covers the inputs and outputs the standards require, and a documented review also provides evidence of review for a wide range of other clauses. Any other area that needs formal review can be added to the form, so that its review is documented as well.
Adapting the Guidance
Edit the guidance to match your own arrangements - the management systems and policies you set objectives for, how often your review takes place, any extra areas you add to the review form and where you record objectives.
