COSHH Assessment - Intumescent Fire Door Strips (PVC-Cased Seals)

This pre-completed COSHH assessment covers solid PVC-cased intumescent fire door strips and combined fire, smoke and acoustic seals for fire-rated doors and frames, with cores typically containing sodium silicate, hydrated graphite or ammonium phosphate. The supplied product is generally not classified as hazardous under CLP - the practical site risk is dust generated when strips are cut, trimmed or sanded to length.

What Does This COSHH Assessment Cover?

The assessment is fully completed and ready to use, covering all sections required for a complete hazardous substance risk assessment:

  • Substance identification - PVC-cased intumescent strip with expanding core, SDS reference and physical state
  • Health effects and first aid - temporary irritation of the airways, skin and eyes from cutting dust, with specific first aid for each route
  • Dust control - sharp hand tools or fine-toothed saws preferred, dust collected at source, and clean-up by vacuum or damp wiping
