ISO 9001:2026 Awareness Training Course

The ISO 9001:2026 Awareness Training Course is a PowerPoint presentation for introducing staff to the ISO 9001:2026 quality management system standard. It opens with what ISO 9001 is and how it has developed, sets out the harmonised structure and the quality management principles, then works through clauses 4 to 10 with the main requirements of each clause explained in plain terms and referenced to the clause number.

The course supports ISO 9001 clause 7.3 Awareness, which requires people doing work under the organisation's control to be aware of the quality policy, relevant quality objectives, their contribution to the quality management system and the organisation's quality culture and ethical behaviour. It also gives managers a clause by clause overview of the standard before implementation or an internal audit.

What the Presentation Covers

  • What is ISO 9001 - the purpose of the standard, its history since 1987 and the trends through each revision, including the climate change amendment of 2024 and the 2026 focus on quality culture, separate risks and opportunities and the management of change
  • Standard overview - the harmonised structure (Annex SL), the clause headings within it and the quality management principles described in ISO 9000
  • Clauses 1, 2 and 3 - scope, normative references and terms and definitions, and why certification looks at conformity with clauses 4 to 10
  • Clause 4 Context of the Organisation - internal and external issues including climate change, interested parties and their requirements, the scope and the processes of the quality management system
  • Clause 5 Leadership - leadership and commitment, customer focus, quality culture and ethical behaviour, the quality policy and roles, responsibilities and authorities
  • Clause 6 Planning - actions to address risks and, separately, opportunities, quality objectives and the planning to achieve them, and the planning of changes
  • Clause 7 Support - people, infrastructure, the work environment, monitoring and measuring resources and organisational knowledge, followed by competence, awareness, communication and documented information
  • Clause 8 Operation - operational planning and control, requirements for products and services, design and development, external providers, production and service provision, release and the control of nonconforming outputs
  • Clause 9 Performance Evaluation - monitoring, measurement, analysis and evaluation including customer satisfaction, internal audit and management review
  • Clause 10 Improvement - continual improvement, and nonconformity and corrective action

Who Needs an ISO 9001:2026 Awareness Course?

Any organisation implementing or maintaining an ISO 9001:2026 quality management system needs its people to understand what the standard asks of them. The course suits small and medium sized businesses running their own awareness sessions for new starters, existing staff and managers without bringing in an outside trainer. It also works as a refresher before an internal audit or certification audit, or as a starting point for the person leading the quality management system.

Included in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 Toolkits

This presentation is part of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 toolkits, including the integrated toolkits that combine them.

Delivering the Course

Run the presentation as a group session or a one to one briefing, adding examples from your own business against each clause. Record who attended on the F-Q7 Training Talk Attendance Record and issue the ISO 9001:2026 Training Certificate Template to each person who completes the session.

Pairs with Other Training

For a wider introduction, the Introduction to the Integrated Management System explains how the integrated management system works and Introduction to ISO Audits and Certification covers the audit and certification process. Staff who go on to carry out internal audits can follow up with the Internal Audit Training Presentation.
