ISO 42001 Toolkit
ISO 42001:2023 is the international standard for artificial intelligence management systems. The toolkit follows the same integrated approach as the other alphaZ toolkits, with a single Integrated Management System manual and a supplied folder structure, so the AI management system sits alongside quality, environmental, health and safety or information security rather than being run as a separate system.
The set covers:
- Policy and procedure - the AI policy and PP-1-42, the core policy procedure the rest of the set is built around, covering roles, life cycle, risk and impact assessment, human oversight, supplier control, monitoring and communication
- Forms - the four AI forms recording the system life cycle, the data used, the impact assessment and the focus committee, plus AI variants of the management review and internal audit schedule
- Registers - the AI risks and controls register, the Statement of Applicability covering all 38 Annex A controls, and the interested parties and opportunities registers
- Audit checklists - three checklists covering the clauses, the documentation requirements and the Annex A controls
- Training - an awareness presentation, an internal audit training course, a training talk and three certificate templates
- Guidance - an overview of the standard, a getting started guide, update guidance and the correlation document mapping every clause to the file that satisfies it

An implementation checklist works through the set-up in eleven sections. Every clause of the standard is addressed and all 38 Annex A controls are carried through the Statement of Applicability, the risk register and the audit checklists. An example business risk assessment covering the use of AI is included and can be adopted as it stands or edited.
