Legal Register Preparation

This product listing provides an overview of what can be covered with a day of remote support, spent on your legal register.

Seven hours of consultant time: every entry in our UK legislation library read against what you do and marked for how it applies to you, your compliance recorded against it, and the written summary drawn from the register so the two cannot drift apart.

A named consultant, files shared securely by Dropbox, and any legal duty with no policy behind it flagged rather than left.

To purchase go to Remote Support - Project, purchase 1 day (or more) of support and we will be in touch to discuss and plan your project.

A legal register is only useful if a reader can tell at a glance which lines actually bite on this business. That is the first thing I check when one reaches me, and it is why the classification matters far more than the length of the list.

The ER9 Legal Register and the F-IMS27 summary form are both on the shelf, and Document Preparation will put your company name and logo on them.

Legal Register Preparation

Every management system standard asks you to know which laws apply to you and to show you are meeting them. The register that does that best is not a short list of the laws someone decided mattered. It is the full listing, with every entry worked through against what you do and marked for how it applies, so you can show that legislation was considered even where it turned out not to apply.

This service prepares that register for your business from our maintained library of UK legislation, together with the written summary and covering notes that explain the decisions made.

What You Get

For the day:

  • The ER9 legal register completed - every entry in our UK legislation library read against what you do and classified. Nothing is deleted, so the register shows what was considered as well as what applies
  • Each item classified - Pertinent where it needs active ongoing management, Relevant where your existing arrangements already satisfy it, and Irrelevant where it has no connection to what you do
  • Legislation added for your profile - anything specific to your sector or activities that the library does not already carry, checked as in force before it goes in
  • The compliance column written - a general statement of how each requirement is met, written as your own arrangements and naming the policy that covers it
  • The written summary - either the standalone F-IMS27 Legal Register form or the legal compliance section of your IMS manual, built from the Pertinent entries and checked against the register in both directions so the two cannot drift apart
  • Standards and guidance listed - the technical standards, HSE guidance and codes of practice, and approval schemes you work to, with their current editions
  • The review sheet ready for sign-off - Date Reviewed and Reviewed By are left for the person who reviews and adopts the register
  • Covering notes - how relevance was decided for your business, the arrangements the compliance column assumes, any policy the register names that you do not yet have, and the points we need you to confirm

How Much One Day Covers

Your register and its written summary. There is no cap on the number of entries. What moves the time is the business - multiple sites, permits, regulated activities or supply into the EU and other export markets all widen the register. The more context and information you give us, the better what we prepare will be. We work through as much as the time allows, in the order that matters most to you.

How the Work Gets Done

We use our own AI tooling to do the mechanical part of document preparation, and a consultant checks the output before it reaches you. On a legal register the tooling does the assembly and the cross-referencing - building the register from the master list, aligning the reference numbering, matching your policies to the duties they answer, and keeping the Word summary consistent with the spreadsheet behind it.

Which legislation applies to your business is a consultant's decision, and it is made by a person. So is the judgement about whether something bites hard on you or sits in the background. Getting that wrong is how registers end up either useless or alarming.

The register and the templates are ours, maintained against UK legislation as it changes, and they are not AI generated. We do not invent statutory references, and where a judgement rests on something we have inferred rather than been told, it comes back to you as a question in the covering notes.

Why a Day Goes This Far

Anyone can rent the same AI we use. What they cannot rent is what we point it at.

Behind this service is a document library built over 25 years - manuals, procedures, policies, registers, risk assessments, COSHH assessments, audit checklists and forms, covering every standard we work to and most situations a management system runs into. Each one has been through real audits, and corrected where an assessor pushed back. That is the part that took 25 years, and it is the part that cannot be generated.

Our tooling applies that library to your business. A general purpose AI, pointed at the same job, has nothing to apply, so it writes something that reads well and describes a company that does not exist.

What We Need From You

  • What your business does and roughly how many people you employ, including details of where you operate, so the legislation that applies in each area can be reviewed
  • Whether you hold any permits, licences or consents
  • Your existing policies and procedures, so the register can point at them
  • Your risk assessments, so the register reflects the exposures you actually assess
  • The registrations, approvals and schemes you hold, and the standards and codes of practice you work to
  • Any legal register you already have
  • Whether you supply into the EU or other export markets

Keeping It Current

The register should be reviewed when your operations change or legislation is updated. Our ISO and legal update service supports that, and includes access to our current library legal register.

What This Does Not Cover

  • It is not legal advice. Where a requirement is contentious or the consequences are significant, take advice on the specific matter
  • It records your arrangements but does not verify that they are working - that is what internal audit and management review are for
  • Your hazard register and COSHH assessments are prepared separately - see Risk Assessment Reformatting and Hazard Register

Other Things Remote Support Covers

A support day does not have to be spent on the legal register. The same day can be pointed at any one of these instead, and it is the same purchase either way:

A day can also go on things that are not document preparation at all - training, internal audits, a gap analysis, or simply working through a problem on a call. Remote Support - Project is the same day bought without a job attached to it.

Every one of these services is listed on the ISO consultancy support page, along with how a support day works and what is covered by a subscription.
