Interested Parties Register Template

The Interested Parties Register is a Word template for recording the key interested parties of your organisation, what you need from each of them, and their needs and expectations, including compliance obligations, legal requirements and any requirements related to climate change. Against each entry it asks which requirements are addressed through the management system, and how.

It supports clause 4.2 of the ISO management system standards, understanding the needs and expectations of interested parties, and gives you the list of interested parties to consider when you plan for risks and opportunities.

What's Included in this Register

Each part of the register is a table with a short note on what to record.

  • Reviewed By and Date Reviewed - a header row to record who reviewed the register and when
  • Overview of Needs and Expectations of Key Interested Parties - each key interested party, what is required from them, and their needs and expectations, including compliance obligations or legal requirements, with a note of which are addressed through the management system
  • Specific Requirements of Key Interested Parties - a second table, with the same columns, for interested parties that have arrangements specific to them

Built for Clause 4.2 of the ISO Standards

  • Records the interested parties relevant to the management system and their requirements
  • Shows which requirements are addressed through the management system and how
  • Prompts for compliance obligations, legal requirements and climate change related requirements in the same entry
  • Gives a dated record of each review of the register

Who Needs an Interested Parties Register?

Any organisation working towards or maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001 or another ISO management system standard needs to show that it has identified its interested parties and their requirements. The register suits small and medium-sized businesses that want a simple table they can complete in a planning meeting and revisit whenever the management system is reviewed.

Included in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 37001 and ISO 42001 Toolkits

This register is part of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301, ISO 37001 and ISO 42001 toolkits, including the integrated toolkits that combine them.

Using the Register

Start with the parties that matter most to the business, such as customers, staff, suppliers, owners, neighbours and regulators. Note what you need from each and what they expect from you, then mark which requirements the management system addresses and how. Use the second table for any party with arrangements specific to them, and add the reviewer and date each time the register is reviewed.

Pairs with the Opportunities and Risks Register

The interested parties you record here are considered in the SWOT analysis and risk register in F-IMS23 Opportunities and Risks Register. For business continuity, PP-1-05 Business Continuity Policy Procedure uses this register to log the continuity and legal requirements of interested parties.
