Business Continuity Register Template
The Business Continuity Register is a Word template for summarising your business continuity arrangements. It lists your critical business functions, the disruption each could suffer, a continuity priority rating and the recovery arrangements and responsibilities that cover them, with more detailed arrangements held in your business continuity plans.
Because it holds a summary rather than the full plans, it can be shown at audit or in supplier due diligence where the business continuity plan itself is kept confidential.
Four Versions to Choose From
- F-IMS21 - a business impact analysis of critical functions, their dependencies and potential disruption, with importance and recovery priority, and a table of continuity objectives or MTPD, arrangements and responsibilities
- F-IMS21-V2 - a one-page overview linking the risk, interested parties and information assets registers, the business continuity risk register and the appraisal and test forms, followed by the continuity register
- F-IMS21-V3 - the V2 layout without the extra form references, with guidance on sharing a public version of the arrangements
- F-IMS21-V4 - the continuity register plus a business impact analysis with inherent and residual ratings, MTPD and RTO, and a table for monitoring and testing each critical function
A Google Docs version is also supplied.
What's Included in this Register
- Reviewed By and Date Reviewed - a header row to record who reviewed the register and when
- Continuity priority matrix - importance against recovery priority, giving a Low, Medium or High rating
- Critical functions - each area or function, its dependencies and supporting resources, and the potential disruption
- Continuity arrangements - the continuity objective, the recovery arrangements or the plan they are held in, and who is responsible
Built for Business Continuity in ISO Management Systems
- Supports the business impact analysis and continuity arrangements expected by ISO 22301
- Gives ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001 systems a record of how disruption is planned for
- Rates each function consistently, so recovery effort goes to what matters most
- Keeps confidential detail in the plans while the register can be shared
