IMS Gap Analysis Checklists

The I-C IMS Gap Analysis Checklists are short Word checklists for reviewing an organisation's existing systems against the IMS1 manual. Each row sets out what needs to be in place, with columns to record what is already in place and any gaps with the action needed to close them. The main checklist covers sections 1 to 5, and separate checklists cover section 6 Environmental Management, section 7 Health & Safety Management and section 8 Information Security Management.

Sections 1 to 5 cover the requirements common to the ISO management system standards and ISO 9001, while sections 6, 7 and 8 add the requirements of ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and ISO 27001. Existing systems and documents found during the review can be referred to in IMS1 instead of the supplied text.

Four Checklists in One Download

Use the main checklist for every IMS, and add the section checklists for the standards covered.

Who Needs an IMS Gap Analysis?

The checklists are for business owners, managers and IMS Leads starting out on ISO certification, or adding a standard to an existing system. They suit small and medium-sized businesses that already have ways of working in place and want to see quickly what is missing before setting up the IMS1 manual, rather than starting from a blank page.

Included in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and ISO 37001 Toolkits

These checklists are part of the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 27001, ISO 22301 and ISO 37001 toolkits, including the integrated toolkits that combine them.

Using the Checklists

Start with the sections 1 to 5 checklist, then add the section 6, 7 or 8 checklist for each additional standard covered. For each row, note the systems and documents already in use and any gap with the action needed. The completed checklists then guide the work on the manual and the actions to put it in place.

Pairs with the IMS1 and Implementation Checklists

Once the gaps are known, I-C-IMS1 Manual Checklists covers completing the IMS1 manual, with IMS1 Guidance explaining how to complete each section, and I-C-IMS Implementation Checklists covers putting the system into practice before the certification audit.
