Warehouse racking takes knocks from forklifts and loads, and damaged racking can collapse. We inspect ours against this - fixings, beams, safety locks, signage and damage - so problems are found and dealt with while they are still small.

Racking Inspection Form Template

A racking inspection form for logging regular checks of storage racking. It works through anchoring and fixings, beams and frames, safety locks and guards, signage and load limits, and any damage, with a satisfactory marker against each and a confirmation that the racking is safe for ongoing use.

Storage racking is work equipment that must be safe and inspected under PUWER, and industry guidance (SEMA) expects regular expert and visual inspections. This form gives you a structured inspection record and supports the operational control requirements of ISO 45001.

Built for PUWER, SEMA and ISO 45001

The form supports the operational control requirements of ISO 45001 (clause 8.1):

  • Anchoring and fixings - base plates, floor fixings and wall connections checked
  • Beams and frames checked for damage, bending or warping and connection integrity
  • Safety locks and guards in place and secure
  • Signage and maximum load limits displayed, and any damage recorded

What's Included in this Racking Inspection

The form is set out area by area:

  • Header - location(s), racking type / description, completed by and date
  • Areas checked - anchoring and fixings, beams and frames, safety locks and guards, signage, each with a satisfactory marker and notes / actions
  • Confirmation - racking confirmed functional and safe for ongoing use, plus additional comments

Who Needs a Racking Inspection Form?

Any organisation with warehouse or storage racking - distribution, manufacturing, retail and builders' merchants. It is a core record for meeting PUWER and for any business working towards or maintaining ISO 45001 certification.
