The 2026 standard puts much more weight on lifecycle thinking. The card format makes it easy to capture upstream, operational and downstream considerations for each significant aspect, which is exactly what auditors will be looking for.
This form template is supplied in fully editable MS Word format and can be easily customised and edited. The document uses pre-defined style formatting throughout, with all text in Calibri font for improved readability.

Environmental Life Cycle Perspective Review
The F-ENV6 Environmental Life Cycle Form is a structured Microsoft Word template for formally reviewing and recording environmental performance from a lifecycle perspective. It is designed to be used alongside the environmental aspects register for any aspect determined to be significant, providing a fuller record of upstream, operational and downstream considerations.
Considering environmental aspects across the full life cycle of activities, products and services is a core requirement of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and an area the 2026 revision strengthens considerably.
Substantially Restructured for ISO 14001:2026
ISO 14001:2026, published on 15 April 2026, strengthens the lifecycle perspective requirement in clause 6.1.2. The standard expects organisations to think carefully about environmental aspects they can control or influence at each stage of the life cycle, from upstream raw material extraction and supplier operations, through the organisation's own activities, to downstream customer use and end-of-life disposal.
F-ENV6 has been substantially restructured to support this:
- Per-aspect lifecycle cards replace the previous flat four-column table. Each significant aspect now gets its own card with separate sections for upstream activities (influence only), operations (full control), downstream activities (influence only), relevant interested parties, and improvement opportunities, distinguishing controlled from influenced items.
- An education panel at the top of the form introduces the three lifecycle stages (Before us / Our activities / After us) and indicates which are typically within full control versus influence only, helping users new to lifecycle thinking understand the framework before completing the cards.
What's Included in this Life Cycle Template
The blank template is supplied as a portrait A4 Word document with empty per-aspect cards, ready to be populated with the organisation's own significant aspects. The form supports compliance with ISO 14001 clause 6.1.2 (Environmental Aspects, Life Cycle Perspective) and is referenced from IMS1 Manual Section 6.2.5 Life Cycle Perspective.
Who Needs a Life Cycle Perspective Review?
This template is suitable for any organisation operating or implementing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System who has identified significant environmental aspects requiring a fuller lifecycle review, from small businesses completing their first environmental review to larger organisations refreshing their lifecycle thinking to reflect the 2026 standard's strengthened control-and-influence framing.
Included in Every ISO 14001 Toolkit
This form is included in every alphaZ documents toolkit that covers ISO 14001, from the standalone ISO 14001 Toolkit through to the fully integrated multi-standard toolkits. If you need a wider set of documents for an environmental or integrated management system, the toolkit route gives you this lifecycle form plus everything else needed for compliant management system documentation, in a single download.
Sample Data Version Available with Subscription
A full sample data version of this form is included with an alphaZ subscription, featuring a range of worked-example aspects covering common environmental areas such as energy consumption, waste, transport, water, biodiversity and chemicals. The same worked-example aspects appear in the companion F-IMS60 register, allowing users to see how an aspect flows from the register into a full lifecycle review.
Pairs with the Environmental Aspects Register
The lifecycle review is intended for any aspect determined to be significant on the F-IMS60 Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register. Together, the two forms provide complete evidence of aspect identification, significance determination, and lifecycle perspective for an ISO 14001 EMS.
