Who Needs a PESTLE Register?
Organisations working to ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 or another ISO management system standard need to determine the external issues that affect them. A PESTLE register is a simple way to record that thinking and show it at audit.
Using the Register
Work through each factor in a planning meeting or at management review, noting what is changing and how it could affect the business. Carry anything significant into your risks and opportunities, and record the reviewer and date each time.
Prompts for Each Factor
The prompts in the register help get the analysis started:
- Political - taxation, trade, grants and funding, international relations
- Economic - interest rates, inflation, exchange rates, employment
- Social - demographics, societal attitudes and norms, values, religious and ethnic considerations
