This register allows information assets to be reviewed and documented.

It can be used for listing of information assets and their information security classification as follows;

 - Confidential - Measures must be put in place to restrict access to only authorised users

 - Business Use - Measures should be put in place to ensure only company staff and relevant interested parties have access

 - Public - No measures or protection required, can be shared openly.

Register also details owner of the information assets and protection.

Classifying documents by information type is an important part of compliance to the ISO standards. 

Information assets can be physical assets such as computers and mobile devices but also intangible assets such as a cloud-hosted database.
This register assists with consideration, review and identification of all information assets to assist with review of protection in place for these assets and consideration of their importance.
This review can greatly assist with identification of any risk that might be associated with the loss of an information asset.
