ISO 45001 Clause 7 - Support

Clause 7 of ISO 45001:2018 covers the supporting infrastructure of the OH&S management system. The previous clauses set the policy, plan the actions, and define what needs to happen. Clause 7 is about making sure the organisation has the resources, the competent people, the awareness, the communication arrangements and the documentation to actually deliver. Clause 7 has five sub-clauses.

ISO 45001 Clause 7.1 - Resources

The organisation determines and provides the resources needed to establish, implement, maintain and continually improve the OH&S management system.

ISO 45001 Clause 7.2 - Competence

The organisation determines the necessary competence of workers, ensures workers are competent based on appropriate education, training or experience, and retains documented information of competence.

ISO 45001 Clause 7.3 - Awareness

The organisation ensures workers are aware of the OH&S policy and objectives, their contribution to the management system, the implications of not conforming, relevant incidents and outcomes, and their right to remove themselves from dangerous situations.

ISO 45001 Clause 7.4 - Communication

The organisation establishes processes for internal and external communication relevant to the OH&S management system, including what, when, with whom and how to communicate.

ISO 45001 Clause 7.5 - Documented Information

The organisation includes documented information required by the standard and that needed for the system to be effective, controls how it is created, updated and used, and protects it from misuse and loss.
