ISO 45001 Clause 10 - Improvement
ISO 45001 Clause 10 is where the organisation acts on what it has learned. It covers identifying opportunities for improvement, dealing with incidents and nonconformities through corrective action, and continually improving the OH&S management system.
{readmore}Clause 10 is split into 10.1 General (the overarching duty to determine improvement opportunities and act on them), 10.2 Incident, nonconformity and corrective action (the formal process for handling things that go wrong), and 10.3 Continual improvement (continually improving the suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the management system). UK organisations also have specific duties to investigate accidents and dangerous occurrences under HASAWA and RIDDOR, which feed naturally into Clause 10.2.
Sub-Clauses of Clause 10
- Clause 10.2 - Incident, Nonconformity and Corrective Action - the formal process for reacting to incidents and nonconformities, investigating root causes, taking corrective action, and reviewing the effectiveness of action taken.
- Clause 10.3 - Continual Improvement - continually improving the management system by enhancing performance, promoting a positive OH&S culture, and involving workers in improvement actions.
