If you're already working to the requirements of this standard and worried that that this update is going to lead to major change then the good news is that not much has been changed!

The previous standard referred to the concept of the 'anti-bribery compliance function' and this is now just 'the anti-bribery function'.

The standard also now includes the requirement to carry out changes to the anti-bribery management system in a planned manner (clause 6.3) - which is common with other ISO standards.

Here's an example of one of the changes;
Clause 5.1.2 Top Management a) objectives - ensuring that the anti-bribery management system, including policy and objectives, is established, implemented, maintained and reviewed to adequately address the organizations bribery risks
has changed to
 a) ensuring that the anti-bribery policy and anti-bribery objectives are established

The changes were largely very minor, with the adding or removal of specific words, or rephrasing of certain sentences. Nothing that will greatly impact on existing ISO 37001 compliant anti-bribery management systems.

Our ISO 37001 toolkit has been updated to the new 2025 standard, if you have purchased this toolkit, please get in touch for a free up-to-date copy of the updated toolkit.
