Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy Template

An anti-bullying and harassment policy template taking a zero tolerance approach and committing to all reasonable steps to detect and prevent bullying and harassment, including harassment of workers by clients, customers, suppliers, visitors and members of the public.

The policy has Approved By and Date Approved fields and carries a Public information classification, so it can be shared with workers, clients and other interested parties.

What the Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy Covers

  • Zero tolerance - all reasonable steps to detect and prevent bullying and harassment
  • Definitions - bullying and harassment, harassment related to a protected characteristic, and sexual harassment
  • Examples - from derogatory remarks and offensive jokes to setting unrealistic deadlines, withholding information and cyber-bullying
  • Reporting - to a line manager or another manager, or through the whistleblowing procedure
  • Investigation - prompt, fair and confidential, with the outcome recorded
  • No victimisation - for anyone who reports in good faith or supports someone else in reporting
  • Third parties - harassment by third parties not tolerated, and the action that may be taken
  • Prevention - induction and toolbox talks, trained managers, and assessing the risk of harassment
  • Review - at least once a year at management review

Written for the Common Assessment Standard

The reporting and investigation, third parties, and prevention and review sections cover the points the Common Assessment Standard (CAS) question set asks a bullying and harassment policy to include.

Using the Policy

Add your company name and logo, check each commitment matches what your organisation does and edit any that do not, then approve and date the policy and share it with workers and anyone else who needs to see it.

Who Needs an Anti-Bullying and Harassment Policy?

Any employer, and organisations completing pre-qualification based on the Common Assessment Standard, such as Constructionline Gold.

Included in the ISO 45001 Toolkit

This policy is part of the ISO 45001 Toolkit and is also included in the ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 and ISO 22301 toolkits and every alphaZ ISO toolkit that combines them.

Works with the Harassment Risk Assessment

The RA-BR20 Harassment risk assessment and F-HS43 Harassment Risk Form support the assessment of harassment risk the policy asks for.

Document Control

The footer carries the policy number and title, information classification, version and page numbers, and the approval fields record who approved the policy and when, so it can be controlled with the rest of your management system documents and listed on a document register such as the F-IMS20 Document Register.
