F-IMS60 Environmental Aspects Register and F-ENV6 Life Cycle Form updated for ISO 14001:2026

Update Details: Updates to the F-IMS60 Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register and F-ENV6 Environmental Life Cycle Perspective Review to align with the requirements of ISO 14001:2026, published on 15 April 2026. Both forms have been refreshed to reflect the strengthened lifecycle, control-and-influence, and four-themes requirements in the new standard.

F-IMS60 Environmental Aspects and Impacts Register

Three changes to the register:

  • The Determination of Significance prompt now references the four 2026 themes (climate change, biodiversity, pollution and resource depletion), making the environmental conditions named in ISO 14001:2026 clause 4.1 explicit at the point of review
  • The Aspect column header has been expanded to Aspect (Normal, Abnormal Conditions and Emergency Situations), reflecting clause 6.1.2's strengthened requirement to consider aspects under all three condition types
  • The Current Controls column is now Controlled / Influenced? with bold sub-headers in each cell distinguishing what the organisation controls from what it influences — aligning with the standard's expectation that organisations consider the extent of control AND influence across the lifecycle of their activities, products and services

F-ENV6 Environmental Life Cycle Perspective Review

This form has been substantially restructured to better support the lifecycle perspective requirement strengthened in clause 6.1.2. The previous flat four-column table has been replaced by per-aspect cards covering each lifecycle stage:

  • Upstream activities (influence only — raw materials, supplier operations, embodied carbon)
  • Operations (full control — site energy use, waste generated, chemical use)
  • Downstream activities (influence only — customer use phase, end-of-life disposal)
  • Relevant interested parties for each aspect
  • Improvement, risks and opportunities distinguishing controlled and influenced items

An introductory panel at the top of the form summarises the three lifecycle stages (Before us / Our activities / After us) and indicates which are typically within full control versus influence only.

Both forms continue to be referenced from IMS1 Manual Section 6.2 Environmental Assessment and support compliance with ISO 14001 clause 6.1.2 Environmental Aspects.

The companion sample data versions for both forms have been updated to match and demonstrate the new conventions in practice. Sample data files are available with an alphaZ subscription. See also the update post which covers the sample data refresh.
