With the ongoing shift in attention towards climate change / global warming - the IAF and ISO have taken action in regards to what this means for all companies running ISO-compliant management systems.

The recommendation is that climate change should now be considered as an external issue within the scope of management systems and the risk of this to the organisation should be considered.

If you operate multiple management systems - climate change should be included in the scope for all relevant standards.

What does this mean for you?

If you are using the alphaZ integrated management system you may only need to update one file to ensure compliance with this updated requirement.

The management system scope for all standards with regards external issues is documented in the F-IMS23 Opportunities and Risks Register which includes a SWOT / PESTLE analysis and to comply simply add 'Climate Change' as a threat in the SWOT table and also as a risk with details of potential impact and any controls in the risk register. You may also want to review the F-IMS22 Interested Parties Register and add any relevant interested parties such as the United Nations Climate Action.

That's it!
